Posted by obanhigh in : Uncategorized , add a commentExplore the ways in which members of the public can influence decision and law making in the UK. Ethical issues, such as stem cell research, are controversial by their very nature and pressure groups of all persuasions compete for the public’s and the Government’s attention. How do voters express their views on such matters? Representative Democracy means we often have to rely on our MSP, MP or MEP to voice our opinions. Is this always appropriate? Are there alternative means? Is there a role for referenda? How would this work?
